Hey, Tom. Good to have another Brit on CZ! I can't agree with you on the metric system (nature gave me ten fingers for a reason), but good start on the District Line, and Leicester and Midland Main Line remind me of the year I spent in Leicester before coming back down south. –Tom Morris 23:51, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Undergrounds

Could you suggest an overall term that covers not just British, but (principally) underground rail systems generally? As you may know, the Washington DC Metrorail system just had its worst accident; if I write about that, I'd like to point to a top-level article for which I don't have a good name. Metrorail is actually closely modeled after the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit System, although it stole the name from the Paris Metro. Of course, the New York subway is iconic, if a shock to visitors.

Incidentally, we've been generally putting transportation systems into the Engineering workgroup as well as the geographic and other ones; may I suggest that for your rail articles? Howard C. Berkowitz 16:01, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
