You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. Circus stuff
All comments on circus related stuff here please. If you want to know what my thoughts and plans are in terms of editing the circus related articles, see User_talk:Steven_Santos/Circus. -SS
Steve, a few comments that I hope will help...please don't be discouraged:
- It's not quite right to ask people to put comments on all circus-related stuff on your own talk page. You can ask them to comment on your contributions on your talk page, but our articles, including those you've contributed, are collaborative (and unsigned) endeavors; the talk pages of each of the articles individually are suitable "neutral grounds" for discussion.
- Generally, please read CZ:Article mechanics. You can't assume that because you've done work on Wikipedia, you understand what our requirements are. Our standards are higher...not to say your work is substandard! But that document will help.
- Please put Category:CZ Live on all your articles. This is automatically placed on articles, however, if you use subpages. See CZ:Subpages for more about that--but that's a bit advanced and it isn't necessary yet. Also, please put Category:Theater Workgroup on (all?) the circus articles. See CZ:Workgroups for more about workgroups.
- To be brutally honest, at its present stage, Stagecraft is deletable. It is a "micro-stub" (see CZ:Article Deletion Policy about very short articles), and it consists of a minimal definition and links to subtopics... It's better simply not to start such articles. We don't mind if you start stubs (see that page), just not that short.
- On Gurevich system (Circus): the first image doesn't show up because we don't allow including external images directly in CZ articles. You'd have to upload it. Also, the outline on "Genres of the Soviet Circus (1970)" is better moved to the talk page. We prefer that people not put outlines in articles, because that has the effect of "shooing away" other people, who might be able to get to the article sooner, and who might not want to follow your precise outline. (Hope this is clear.) "References" should be labelled "Bibliography" and will, at least eventually, be made a subpage.
- Circus Acts is a good start, but it is also problematic...it is a list of circus acts. Articles are not lists; a list, per se, should be placed on a "Catalog" subpage. (See Tennis/Catalogs/Famous players for an example.) The main article should be titled circus act (notice case and number) and should discuss circus acts generally, not individually--perhaps giving a history of their development, I don't know. Then, you might make a nice big fat link to Circus act/Catalogs/List of acts. I'm not set on "list of acts"...and in any case it would be all right to have some major circus acts listed and described on circus act.
