The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening, is the longest-running animated television series. The first episode was broadcast on December 17, 1989 and it is currently in its 25th season.

Television ratings

The Simpsons ratings have been steadily falling since the series two debut peaked in 1990, with 33.6 million viewers, with a sharp decline beginning with series fifteen (2004), to only 3.4 million viewers watching by series twenty-five (2014).[1]
