What about informal written language?
The article seems to suggest a dichotomy between colloquial language and formal written language, but doesn't seem to make any space for informal written language, whether that is written language that consciously apes the sound of informal spoken language - such as dialogue in a play, movie screenplay or novel - or the great quantity of informal language now spoken online: instant messaging, status updates on sites like Twitter and SMSes sent over cellular networks. Is there an oversight or is there a plan for dealing with informal written language in another article? –Tom Morris 16:48, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
