I'm a high school history teacher in Houston, Texas, teaching US history, world history, and Advanced Placement US history. During the summer I work as a data analyst and research manager for a market research firm specializing in international and social health marketing issues. I have taught at the elementary, high school, and college level since 1990.

As a history teacher I try to get my students to focus on both sociological and economic influences in human events because I find those to be the most applicable for transfering the lessons of history to contemporary events. I was born in New Orleans, have lived in Houston my adult life, and am the father of one disturbingly bright teenager. I received my bachelor's degree in English and Education from the University of St. Thomas in Houston in 1989 and will begin graduate studies in history at the University of Houston in 2008.
