Eugene B. Bergmann, exhibit designer and author, holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY (BID 1959). He was Senior Exhibit Designer at the American Museum of Natural History for 34 years until his retirement in 2001. In addition to scores of temporary exhibits he designed and supervised construction of the museum’s permanent Hall of South America Peoples, Margaret Mead Hall of Pacific Peoples, and Hall of Reptiles and Amphibians. More recently he has written and published the only book on multitalented radio humorist Jean Shepherd,"Excelsior, You Fathead! The Art and Enigma of Jean Shepherd" (Applause Theatre and Cinema Books, March 2005). This resulted in over a dozen radio interviews and numerous media reviews, including The Associated Press, Talkers Magazine, and many internet commentaries. Much information about the book (and about Jean Shepherd’s life and work) can be found at www.flicklives.com. Bergmann continues to work on a variety of Jean Shepherd-related projects.
