Tao Qian (陶潛; 365-427; Wade-Giles: T'ao Ch'ien), also known as Tao Yuanming (陶淵明; Wade-Giles: T'ao Yüan-ming), was a Chinese poet who lived during the Eastern Jìn Dynasty. His family was poor but well-educated, enabling Tao to read novels and classic Confucian literature.
