STS-1 was the first manned space mission conducted by the United States National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) as part of the Space Transport System (STS) program. A crew of two NASA astronauts, John Young and Robert Crippen, conducted the two day, six-hour test flight aboard Space Shuttle Columbia.
