Canadian football is a form of football played in Canada between two teams of 12 players on a rectangular gridiron field. Canadian football has the same 19th century origin as American football but the two sports have developed significant differences. The sport's major professional competition is the Canadian Football League (CFL) and its championship game, the Grey Cup, is perennially the most popular sporting event in Canada.
