Self-organizing system

In systems theory a self-organizing system refers to a system that acquires new structure based upon the collective actions of a large number of autonomous subsystems.[1] In biology, an example might be a termite nest or a bees' nest. In chemistry an example is the spontaneous generation of supramolecules by self-assembly from their components.
