Indian classical music

Indian Classical Music can be divided into two main genres:

  • Hindustani classical music which originated in North India
  • Carnatic classical music which originated in South India


Indian music recognizes seven notes 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni" which corresponds to Western Music's 'Do Re Me Fa So La Ti'. These notes can be made sharp(Teevra) or flat(Komal) to get twelve notes within each octave.
