Why the main article is blank but the Related Articles subpage shouldn't be deleted anyway
In my first attempt to create stand-alone (or virtually stand-alone) "Related Articles" pages for "automobile racing" and "NASCAR", to experiment with de-orphanizing several biographical articles about individual NASCAR drivers, I followed this procedure, which was worked out somewhere and documented on Chris Day's talk page:
- 1. Create the Definition page.
- 2. Create the main article and just put "subpages" template into it.
So far, so good. When you go to the main article, it's been automatically marked as a "Lemma" and the text of the definition shows up ("transcluded," I think the space-age term is) as if it were the article's text. But then I went on to the next step, which I probably shouldn't have:
- 3. Create the metadata template.
My mistake -- I neglected the place where Howard or Chris said don't create metadata unless you plan to actually create the cluster (an activity that includes "writing a main article").
After doing that, the article is no longer considered a "Lemma," and it's totally blank (no transcluded definition any more). Which means, I think, that constables are now duty-bound to delete it. Fine with me, but please don't delete the Related Articles subpage, if that's possible, because it's performing the job of eliminating orphan status for some other articles. Thanks.
