Quick test

You are about to upload an image which was made available at Flickr by its author under a Creative Commons licence.
This option in the wizard cannot be use for uploading photos which are not under creative commons licences.

Note: It is imperative that you know the real name of the Flickr user who owns this photo. Most Flickr users have their real name in their profile, and those who don't will usually tell you it if you email them. If you can't find the real name of the author, do not upload the image.

Tips:

  • The licencing status of the Flickr photos is located under the Additional Information section.
  • You can use advanced search in Flickr to search only Creative Commons photos.
  • If you can't find a quality Creative Commons photo, then try searching all photos. If you find one, try approaching the author to release it under the Creative Commons licence of his/her choice, the freer the better. If they refuse but you are sure you need the photo, ask for permission to use it and upload it with the by permission option in this upload wizard.
  • Don't confuse "this photo is public" with "public domain". They're not at all the same at flickr.
