Aldosterone, a mineralcorticoid steroid.

Aldosterone is a steroid hormone. It is the major mineralcorticoid and it therefore controls electrolyte levels, blood pressure and hydration. Aldosterone is synthesized from corticosterone by oxidation of the C-18 methyl group to form an aldehyde.
