Ithaca, Greece is an island located in the Ionian Sea, off the northeast coast of Kefalonia and to the west of continental Greece. The island has an area of 96 sq km (37 sq mi). In 2011, it had a population of 3,231. It is one of the smallest of the seven main Ionian Islands. Ithaca is generally identified as the home of Odysseus, the main character of Homer's classical Greek poem The Odyssey.
