Star Trek is a science fiction entertainment franchise that began with the television series Star Trek in 1966. Created by Gene Roddenberry, the series ran on the [[American]] network NBC for three seasons before being cancelled. Despite this fact, it remained popular and gave birth to a string of TV series, films, novels, comic books, video games, merchandising, and other forms of entertainment.
