Anna Maria Geertruida Schmidt (Kapelle, May 20 1911 - Amsterdam, May 21 1988), was a dutch poet and writer[1]. Amongst her works are poems, songs, plays, musicals and radio-television drama, but she is most known because of her work in children's literature achieving the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1988.[2] She died in 1994 the morning after her 84th birthday through euthanasia.[3]
