The George Hotel (or The George as it is also known) is a 4-star hotel and Category B listed building; located at 18-20 George Street in the center of Edinburgh, Scotland, close by Princess Gardens and down the hill from Edinburgh Castle. Rooms tend to be small but quiet and luxurious. Broadband Internet access is available in many rooms. Better rates can often be obtained online in advance at the hotel website.

Architecture

The George was designed by the famous neoclassical Edinburgh architect and Robert Adam and as such was given a Category B listed building status[1] in 1985.

Notes

  1. Category B status is given for buildings of "regional or more than local importance, or major examples of some particular period, style or building type which may have been altered." It broadly equates to the English Grade II* listing status.
