The Philadelphia Phillies are a Major League Baseball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The team was founded in 1883 as the Philadelphia Quakers in the National League. [1] [2]

Championships

The team has had a total of 2 championship-winning seasons in the modern era (1901 and later) of major-league baseball, winning the World Series in 1980 and 2008. They were also National League champions, but lost in the World Series, 5 times, in 1915, 1950, 1983, 1993, and 2009. [3]
