Euro 2008 is a Football tournament of European teams that starts on Saturday June 7th and ends with the final on Sunday June 29th, 2008. It is being joint-hosted by Austria and Switzerland and comprises 16 teams who have successfully qualified through the Euro 2008 Qualifying Tournament.
The tournament began in 1960, and is one of the regional tournaments held every four years organised by FIFA. Similar competitions take place in other regions of the world with the Copa America in South America, the Asian Cup throughout Asia and the African Cup of Nations in Africa.
