Celebration Day is is the soundtrack album of the Celebration Day|concert film of the same name by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. The album was originally released in 2012, and available in a variety of formats including triple vinyl LP set (180 gram), double compact disc, single Blu-ray audio, and digital download. OverviewThe recording of the album and the film took place during the 2007 benefit concert to commemorate the life of former Atlantic Records music president Ahmet Ertegun, at The O2 arena (London)|the O2 in London. All songs were recorded by Tim Summerhayes with engineer John Catlin, and mixed by Alan Moulder at Assault and Battery Studios in London. Mastering was by engineer John Davis at Metropolis Studios, London. Initially not planned for release, public interest and the spate of poor-quality bootlegs from the concert on the internet prompted producer Jimmy Page to organize a formal process of mixing and mastering existing audio recordings for official issue to coincide with the film, Celebration Day. A total of three weeks were required to mix the assortment of tapes from the concert recording. Jason Bonham's drumkit was recorded on a total of 36 tracks (21 original tracks plus 15 with effects), 21 bass tracks, 21 guitar tracks, 16 keyboard tracks, two theremin tracks, five vocal tracks by Robert Plant, one vocal track by Bonham, and with the addition of four audience tracks, totalling over 130 tracks with added effects and submixes.[1] The double CD set was released as a combined package with either the DVD or Blu-ray of the film, or available as a stand-alone softpack. A Blu-ray single disc option is also available as an amaray digipack with 48K 24 bit PCM stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound. The triple vinyl 180 gram audiophile LP set was scheduled to be released on 10 December 2012 however delays in the packaging and artwork meant a postponement, until February 2013. Reviews and awardsUpon release, Celebration Day received positive reviews including an average score of 85% with Metacritic.[2] In January 2014, the album was awarded 'Best Rock Album' at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, in addition 'Kashmir (song)|Kashmir' was nominated for 'Best Rock Performance'.[3] Track listing
