Could users "sleep" and later attack? No, because any reasonable system considers more than the length of registration. It would also consider volume and quality of contribution, unlikely for a miscreant to use to develop his "cover". [[User:Howard C. Berkowitz|Howard C. Berkowitz]] 18:10, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Should this article include possibilities for Citizendium?

If and when CZ has a karma system, of course, the technical aspects should be here.

Until then, I'm not sure if it's appropriate to speculate on applications. My understanding -- it was before I came to CZ -- the vandalism that prompted the much more rigorous user verifications were a series of move of articles to new, sometimes offensive, always confusing titles. A karma system could have limited moves to established users.

Could users "sleep" and later attack? No, because any reasonable system considers more than the length of registration. It would also consider volume and quality of contribution, unlikely for a miscreant to use to develop his "cover". Howard C. Berkowitz 18:10, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

I just added a section that include typical MediaWiki usage. I don't think we should get specific on CZ as that would take us out of article territory and into a recommendtaion/proposal. --Chris Key 18:37, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Fascinating, Chris -- we already have it

Do you know if the thresholds allow additional code to be inserted, so that other criteria might be used before promoting? Alternatively, are the counts used for these other than the master variables, so, hypothetically, there could be a function for subtracting 10 from the article count when an article is ordered deleted? Howard C. Berkowitz 18:40, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

It would be possible to create an extension to provide this functionality, however it is not something that we could do using the standard code. --Chris Key 20:38, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
