My name is Denis Cavanagh and I like contributing here when I'm at work. Who knows, when I'm back in College I might write the odd article here and there, but I wouldn't bank on it. I like seeing most of the red links here turn blue as Citizendium slowly develops :-)

I am a history student in Dublin, Ireland, currently in third year. In a dream scenario I would like to remain in university for the rest of my life, in one form or another, as a lecturer or researcher. However, its likely that worldly distractions like money (And lack thereof) will raise its ugly head.

I am principally a history author, though have dabbled in Politics here as well.

Some may place me in a vague 'liberal' school of historical thought. Frankly, I just read, and let the evidence write itself.

The course of Irish history, 1912 - 1924

This is following on from a list I had up here some time ago, but much more specialised. Its not exactly linear or accurate, just a list of topics which spring to mind and hopefully (Some day) will get written. The difference between this list and the one I used to have up is that this one focuses on a very narrow ten year period, a decade of metamorphis for the budding Irish nation. Also, feel free to add to the list. I will add to it as I think of new topics. I know there are things here that I have overlooked. I hope that not too far in the future there will be an Irish history workgroup.

At the moment I'll be doing a lot of work in this particular area. I intend to dabble into the crusades and 18th/19th century historians (Gibbon, Gibbon, Gibbon!) at some point also.
