The quote reads ''tomorrow it was x's turn but tomorrow it will be y's turn'' but shouldn't it read ''today'' (or even ''yesterday'') ''was x's turn but tomorrow will be y's turn''? That would make more sense, unless it is simply an unusualy literal translation from Japanese. Without knowing the source it is hard to be sure.
