Summary

Comparison of the Saturn V, Space Shuttle and the two proposed Shuttle Derived Launch Vehicles (Ares I and Ares V)

Note that the pictures of both no longer accurate. Plans have been changed to use a five-segment solid first stage for the Ares I instead of the four-segment inherited from the Space Shuttle as shown.[1] The second stage has been shortened.

In addition, the Ares V now has a reduced diameter second stage.
