In health care economics, capitation fees are a "method of payment for health services in which an individual or institutional provider is paid a fixed, per capita amount without regard to the actual number or nature of services provided to each patient."[1]
Along with prospective payment systems and diagnosis-related fees (diagnosis-related groups), capitation fees are a method of financial risk sharing.
