A daily online publication, the American Thinker is "devoted to the thoughtful exploration of issues of importance to Americans...with no limit to the topics appearing... National security in all its dimensions, strategic, economic, diplomatic, and military is emphasized. The right to exist and the survival of the State of Israel are of great importance to us." Its sixth anniversary was in January 2010, its editorial policy of American conservatism was commended by Michael van der Galien of the David Horowitz Freedom Center. [1]

Thomas Lifson founded it in 2003. The editor and publisher, who calls himself a "recovering academic" who was "a Democrat by birth, he became more conservative in adulthood as reality taught him that dreams of perfecting human society always runs smack into human nature." He appears on a number of talk shows. [2]
